Chapter 13: Lecture Summary

90% of companies surveyed report using some sort of variable pay. Put in some sort of mechanism that allows your employees to give feedback on what they want. ASK your employees what they want.

We also discussed the importance of developing a pay/benefits/career model from the very beginning of company inception. It is important to know where you want to go as an organization and work towards attracting employees that will fit with your culture. It is easier to have a plan from the beginning and make adjustments, than lag behind or work without a compass and lose your way in hiring, retaining, and motivating employees.
